Meet the Hanleys. Only, they’re not the Hanleys just yet because Shannon and Denis don’t tie the knot until June when months of meticulous planning will finally evolve into their long awaited Spanish wedding at the El Salvador church on the Balcon de Europa in Nerja.

Smile caught up with the bride & groom to be a couple of months ago to find out just what exactly it is about a wedding in Spain that made them forget the idea of a traditional UK wedding...

How did you and Denis meet?

It was on chipper wall in a place called Kilkee, a seaside town in Co. Clare, Ireland. Denis spotted me sitting on the wall with my friends and called one of them over to ask who I was.
He then asked my friend to ask me if I would meet him some time? I said yes obviously and as he walked away he said to my friend at the time, that he was going to marry that girl! We were only young when we met so I just laughed it off… but look at us now :)

It’s great that you remember it so vividly, what about the big question? Was that just as romantic?

I was brought to Ashford Castle in Co. Mayo for the night and that’s where Denis produced the ring and got down on one knee.
